Overview of Transition Design and Packaging in Gap Waveguide Technology

Gap waveguide technology has emerged as a promising solution for high-frequency systems, enabling low-loss transmission and integration flexibility without the need for electrical contact between metal surfaces. In this talk, we present an overview of the most common transition designs between different versions of gap waveguide technology and conventional structures such as rectangular waveguide and microstrip. Particular attention will be given to design strategies, performance trade-offs, and practical considerations for efficient transitions. In addition, the presentation will cover packaging concepts and experimental results achieved using gap waveguide technology, highlighting its potential for compact, reliable, and scalable implementations in mm-wave and sub-THz applications.
