Design and Characterization of Broadband Superconducting Microwave Amplifiers with Near-Quantum-Limited Noise Performance
Traveling Wave Parametric Amplifiers (TWPAs) have become the cornerstone of readout chains for frequency-multiplexed superconducting qubits, owing to their nearly unrivaled combination of multi-GHz instantaneous bandwidths, power handling capabilities above -100dBm, and added noise down to the quantum-mechanical limit. The techniques, peculiarities, and challenges associated with the design and characterization of this type of cryogenic microwave amplifier will be addressed in this talk.
