Microwave Platforms and Devices for a Sustainable Future

Sustainable electronics focus on creating, utilizing and disposing of electronic materials and devices in ways that minimize environmental impact. Durable, eco-friendly and repairable designs, along with energy efficient manufacturing and sustainable microwave materials and packaging help to reduce waste, energy consumption, and resource depletion. Sustainable electronics are a step toward reducing the environmental impact of our tech-centric world, but it is a journey that will require ongoing innovation, consumer education, and policy changes with customer adoption. This talk will present microwave electronics and semiconductor manufacturing designs with potentials to reduce the carbon footprints and E-waste. Durable, modular microwave platforms and devices with repairability options and sustainable design practices will be presented, which reduce the carbon footprint across the entire lifecycle of the product. Emerging eco-friendly RF semiconductor manufacturing and packaging with 3D-heterogeneous integration will be discussed, reshaping the RF materials to device and platform domain.
