The Lifecycle of RFID Tags and a More Energy-Efficient Method for Initiating Interrogation of Fully Passive Tags in IoT

The talk will review the RFID lifecycle by comparing Chipless RFID, UHF RFID, and barcodes. It will also introduce a new communication approach that allows a fully passive tag to communicate with a reader without the latter needing to emit electromagnetic power periodically. Unlike current practices, this type of communication would avoid emitting waves when no tag is present in the reader’s reading area.
