Microwave Dielectric Spectroscopy in Healthcare and Precision Agriculture

Microwave dielectric spectroscopy presents advantages: being non-invasive, label free and highly sensitive to water molecule content and binding. Due to the penetration of microwaves in cells and tissues, leading to intracellular and in-vivo investigations, groundbreaking sensing capabilities are achieved for healthcare and precision agriculture: quantification of health state (at single cells and microtissue levels), monitoring of in-vitro and in-vivo complex biological processes (cell electroporation, electrochemotherapy, apoptosis, monitoring of animal organs). The integration of machine-learning techniques will also be presented in a specific case study, highlighting its contribution to sensitivity enhancement.
