Design of 28GHz Wireless Power Transfer Phased Array in Beyond-5G/6G Networks

A survey of 5G/6G advances highlights not only high-speed communication but also the need to support IoT networks that require wireless power transfer technologies. Therefore, it is essential to design a high-gain phased array system that meets the requirements of 5G/6G communication networks. In phased array systems, beam scanning requires precise phase control of the array elements. As the antenna system scales up, the complexity of the phase control system increases, making it challenging to maintain beamforming quality. In this study, we propose a novel large-scale antenna design that enables two-dimensional beam scanning using only two control parameters. The designed 28GHz phased array antenna consists of 1024 elements, achieving a targeted antenna gain of 35dBi.
