A Wideband ME Dipole-Enabled DAM Antenna for IntegratedFrequency-Agile Sub-6 GHz Communication and Vital Sign Sensing
This paper presents a wideband magnetoelectric
(ME) dipole antenna integrated with a switch-controlled
direct antenna modulation (DAM) network for frequency-agile
sub-6-GHz integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). The
antenna employs a microstrip-line aperture-coupled excitation
to achieve broadband operation from 2.5 to 4.5 GHz, while
feed-direction switching provides two stable far-field phase
states enabling mixer-free Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK)
modulation. A prototype is designed and fabricated to validate
the proposed architecture. Measurements demonstrate reliable
wideband BPSK communication, accurate Doppler extraction,
and simultaneous recovery of communication data and human
vital-sign signatures across multiple carrier frequencies. These
results confirm that combining ME-dipole radiation with DAM
offers a compact, low-complexity platform for wideband ISAC
applications.
