Highly Linear Time-variant Mixers/Filters: Operation and Analysis

Linear Time-variant circuits combine linearity with digital programmability, allowing for different functionalities discussed in this workshop. In this contribution the focus will be on the operation and analysis of polyphase clocked N-path filters/mixers. Due to their high intermodulation free dynamic range and digitally programmable frequency behavior, these circuit are attractive for software defined radio, while high-speed advanced CMOS technologies make them feasible at multi-GHz frequencies. N-path circuit operation will be discussed both intuitively in the time- and frequency-domain, but also analyzed in more detail using simplifications techniques to made math tractable, e.g. exploiting adjoint networks.
