Evaluation of MRI RF-Induced for Active Implantable Medical Implants in the Vicinity of Other Implantable Devices
In this paper, a method is proposed to evaluate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiofrequency (RF)-induced heating of active implantable medical devices (AIMD)s in the vicinity of other implantable medical devices using the transfer function (TF) method. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this method, in-vitro experiments are performed. Based on the method, RF-induced heating inside a human body model were evaluated for an AIMD with/without nearby implantable devices. The results showed that the AIMD heating can be significantly affected due to the existence of an implantable device in the surroundings.
