A Novel Wideband Power Amplifier Enhanced Through Controlled Prescribed Transmission Zeros by Coupling Block
In this paper, a new block is introduced for designing broadband power amplifiers. The block consists of a transmission line in parallel with a capacitance to generate a coupling between stubs to introduce finite transmission zeros at controlled frequency allocations. With this, the load at harmonic frequencies is enhanced in a broader bandwidth achieving a wideband performance. To validate the performance, a PA based on a 10 W GaN HEMT (CG2H40010) has been fabricated with a bandwidth from 1.7 to 3.3 GHz for an output power above 39.7 dBm and a power-added efficiency (PAE) ranging between 50.4–81%.
