A Millimeter-Wave Low-Loss On-Chip Filter Design Using a Wideband Synthesis Method in 90-nm SiGe BiCMOS Process
This paper introduces an on-chip filter fast design method which is applicable to any bandwidth specification, eliminating the constraints associated with narrowband filters in the conventional synthesis method. The enhanced synthesis method can directly generate the circuit based on specifications and realize to accomplish a filter design in seconds. Multiple independent transmission zeros can also be flexibly designed to improve out-of-band performance. A broadband low-loss on-chip mmWave filter using 90-nm SiGe BiCMOS process was designed by this synthesis method. The fabricated on-chip filter is measured with an insertion loss of 1.5 dB at 59.16 GHz and a fractional bandwidth of 34%. This research contributes to low-loss on-chip filter design and offers a valuable design tool that can simultaneously achieve high design speed and good performance.
