Design aspects of waveguide polarizers and orthomode transducers
The growth of telecommunication satellite services has driven the demand for compact, high-capacity antenna feed systems with strict specifications. Minimizing the size of RF hardware on spacecraft complicates design, often necessitating the use of multi-band single waveguide antennas for signal separation/combination, particularly in high-power scenarios. Dual polarization further complicates design, requiring ortho-mode transducers and polarizers to improve spectrum efficiency. Conventional methods may fall short for broad frequency bands that need compact solutions, leading to the development of integrated filtering and polarization control structures enhanced by CAD advancements. This presentation will examine key topologies and challenges in dual polarization waveguide components.
