Tunable Optically Fed Radiofrequency Source for Distributing Coherent High-Fidelity Signals
In this paper, we demonstrate the generation and distribution of radio-frequency (RF) signals using a tunable optical paired laser source (TOPS). Using this approach, an RF signal is synthesized and distributed to RF transmitters. Through non-mechanical beam-steering, it is demonstrated that the signal can be optimized to create a peak signal at a desired user, or similarly create nulls for nearby users. This experiment demonstrates the ability to distribute a single source through an optical fiber at ranges exceeding 45 km.
