Design and Implementation of FR3 Power Amplifiers for Extreme Massive MIMO

This talk presents the design considerations and implementation of power amplifiers targeting FR3 extreme massive MIMO base-station applications. A comprehensive review of specifications and key challenges for 7–13 GHz operation is provided. Based on these considerations, a 7 GHz GaN-on-Si power amplifier and a 13 GHz GaAs PA/FEM are demonstrated. Furthermore, digital envelope tracking is applied in the FR1 band to enhance efficiency, and its applicability to FR3 operation is investigated through feasibility analysis.
