Design Considerations for mm-Wave Building Blocks Toward 300GHz in 22FDX
In this talk, we will present a wide range of design considerations for integrated circuits operating at frequencies up to 320GHz. Among other topics, we will discuss techniques to improve circuit performance near fmax, investigate suitable EM simulators depending on the simulation structure, demonstrate the impact of generated fill on passive components and active cores, and provide recommendations for layout practices that minimize parasitics and ensure proper RF grounding. The design flow will be illustrated using exemplary measured designs implemented in GlobalFoundries’ advanced 22FDX technology node. Finally, we will examine measurement setups for both large-signal and small-signal characterization.
