Rydberg Atom-Based Field Sensors and Receivers

In recent years, quantum- and atom-based electric and magnetic field sensors have attracted significant attention, prompting both universities and companies to launch dedicated research and development programs. Among these technologies, Rydberg atom sensors have advanced to the point where they can directly measure the amplitude, polarization, and phase of RF fields and signals. This capability is opening the door to a broad range of applications, including SI-traceable E-field probes, waveform analyzers, power and voltage standards, RF imaging, and receivers for modern communication signals. The presentation will provide an overview of this rapidly developing technology.
