Building Spectrally Agile SDRs for FR3
The upper mid-band or FR3 (7–24GHz) has attracted considerable interest in NextG cellular systems as the bands offer a balance of coverage and capacity. This talk describes an initial 2×2 MIMO FR3 SDR with fast frequency hopping across the entire upper mid-band developed in conjunction with NYU start up Pi-Radio. We also discuss efforts to scale these systems to very large numbers of antennas with flexible hardware to support diverse communication and sensing tasks.
