Multi-Layer Spatial Processing: Breaking the Complexity-Capacity Barrier in Multi-Beam Arrays

Next-generation wireless networks require scalable and energy-efficient spatial processing to break past the complexity-capacity barrier of conventional hybrid beamforming. This talk introduces a multi-layer multi-beam MIMO architecture that combines RF and baseband weighting to achieve flexible spatial multiplexing and superior energy efficiency. Various mm-wave circuit-level innovations will be highlighted, along with new capabilities such as carrier aggregation and full-duplex beamforming empowered by multi-layer multi-beam arrays.
