AI-Driven mm-Wave Phased Array Radar and ISAC
This presentation examines the synergy between silicon-based mm-wave phased array technology and advances in edge AI. This convergence enables the development of holistic "antennas-to-AI" systems crucial for next-generation radar and Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC). Multiple examples of phased array-based systems for sensing using both radar and OFDM waveforms are covered, showcasing advances in deterministic signal processing that enable capabilities such as 3D imaging and fast Angle of Arrival detection. The talk also features learning-based algorithms (AI) for applications such as gesture recognition, concealed object detection, and passive 5G sensing. The talk offers a holistic view of the principles, challenges, and opportunities associated with these emerging systems, covering key aspects of hardware, system integration, signal processing, and AI development, and concludes with an outlook for further AI applications in ISAC.
