Parametric Frequency Conversion For Active Microwave Isolation

This session will focus on the basic tenets of parametric frequency conversion utilizing non-linear superconducting elements (Josephson junctions, SQUIDs, etc). From there, the talk will describe in detail how applying a multitude of RF pump tones for parametric frequency conversion can lead to directional power flow over a specified instantaneous bandwidth. Finally, the presentation will discuss technical tradeoffs that can be made in terms of ease of design, manufacturability, and minimizing the active power load from the RF pumps.
