THz Wireless Communications and Sensing Using Resonant Tunneling Diode Oscillator

Resonant Tunneling Diodes (RTDs) are devices with negative resistance characteristics that can generate signals exceeding 2THz and achieve output powers above the milliwatt level. Currently, sample-level sales have begun for RTD oscillator and receiver devices smaller than a few millimeters in size, packaged similarly to LEDs. As a result of these achievements, RTD devices have been gradually attracting attention. This presentation will report on wireless communication and sensing applications in the high-frequency band above 300GHz using RTD oscillators.
