Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW): Topologies and Transitions

This presentation will cover a variety of interconnects and transitions in Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) technology. The solutions proposed over the past years for the size reduction and bandwidth enhancement will be reviewed. Different manufacturing processes will be discussed, ranging from classical planar circuit board (PCB) technique to the implementations on textile and by additive manufacturing, showing the potential and limits of the different approaches. Concerning the transitions, various solutions will be presented, including a recently proposed coaxial-to-SIW multi-mode launcher.
