I AM... an RF Applications Engineer!
What made you want to work in this industry?
Early on from my childhood, I always was interested in small electronics and “gadgets”. This is what prompted me to major in Electrical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, while there, I honed in on my specific interests in the RF field. This interest grew even deeper during my graduate degree as my research was primarily focused on power amplifier designs working under my mentor, Dr. Slim Boumaiza.
I was exposed to the world of RF semiconductors with my research and this really laid the foundation for my ongoing interest and passion for the field-- landing me in the position I am in today.
What is your favorite part of your job?
What excites me the most about working in the RF industry is that this field is ever-evolving. In my position at MACOM; no day is the same. Some days I am in the lab troubleshooting with my colleagues, others I am involved in customer meetings, or brainstorming ideas for new products. What makes the job even more fun is being surrounded by like minded individuals who I have the pleasure to learn from daily.
What are you most excited about for IMS2024?
I am most excited about the Student Design Competition. IMS2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the competition. I am looking forward to seeing where the future of the field is headed and to meet the brilliant minds who will surely become pioneers in our field in the future.
