Johana Yan, VP, Advanced RF Technology, MaXentric Technologies, LLC.
I AM...an Engineer of Dreams and Vision.
What made you want to work in this industry?
My passion for this industry stemmed from a deep fascination with how technology can drive real-world change and impact. Early on, I was captivated by the idea of solving complex problems and using innovation to create solutions that have a tangible effect on everyday life. What really drew me in was the opportunity to push boundaries — not just by improving existing systems, but by discovering entirely new applications for microwave and RF technologies. The chance to be part of an industry that’s constantly evolving and reshaping the way we communicate, connect, and solve global challenges is what excites me the most.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is the perfect blend of technical challenges and strategic thinking. I get to work with advanced RF technologies, which allows me to explore cutting-edge innovations across multiple focus areas like communications, medical, and even space applications. But what really makes it exciting is the teamwork and collaboration. Being able to work alongside brilliant colleagues, share ideas, and collectively push the boundaries of what’s possible is incredibly rewarding. I also love the balance between technical problem-solving and the broader business strategy — planning systems, designing solutions, and making sure they align with future needs. It’s a constantly evolving field, and being able to help shape its direction, while staying focused on real-world impact, is something I truly enjoy.
What are you most excited about for IMS2025?
I'm most excited about IMS2025 because it’s the perfect opportunity to meet new friends and reconnect with old colleagues who share the same passion for RF and microwave engineering. I’m also excited to support and celebrate diversity, youth, and women in the field. It’s always an inspiring event for networking and exchanging ideas. Beyond the networking, I look forward to learning about the latest advancements and emerging challenges in areas like next-gen communication systems, medical applications, and the integration of AI into RF design. At IMS, it's not just about the technology itself, but about how we, as a community, can shape the future of connectivity and advanced technologies. The energy at IMS is contagious and it’s where the ideas that will change the world are born.
