National Radio Astronomy Observatory CDL

The U.S. National Science Foundation National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NSF NRAO) and NSF Green Bank Observatory (NSF GBO) enable forefront research into the Universe at radio frequencies with a state-of-the-art suite of radio telescopes including the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (NSF VLA), the Very Long Baseline Array (NSF VLBA), and Green Bank Telescope (NSF GBT). These telescopes enable scientists to observe astronomical objects at submillimeter to meter wavelengths with state-of-the-art resolution, sensitivity, and frequency coverage. The NSF NRAO Central Development Laboratory (CDL) develops new technology for the next generation of radio astronomy telescopes, including the ALMA Wideband Sensitivity Upgrade (WSU) and Next Generation Very Large Array (ngVLA). CDL also helps train the next generation of engineers and technicians and works with industry partners on licensed production of patented technologies.
